if you mean mythology as in sacred folk tales that explain in culturally specific terms how the world came into being then i'd recommend The Implied Spider: Politics and Theology in Myth by Wendy Doniger which i really enjoyed reading a few months ago.
If you mean something a little more, uh, "magickal" then SSOTBME by Ramsey Dukes is on my essential reading list
